Bob is a tough DPE, he can and WILL get loud in the cockpit, but dont let it throw you off. He WILL yell at you regardless of skill level, just take it with a grain of salt. Fair, and caring overall. Did my CFI-A with him.

Wow, what a checkride... I passed, but:In the beginning he was pretty distant. Asking for oxygen requirements on my commercial checkride. In the plane he was yelling at me even though I was doing nothing wrong. Must have been some kind of psychological thing. However, I think yelling at a grown up man is not the right way to conduct a checkride. Never again!

Did my commercial with him. He will get loud... he is yelling at you. Must be some kind of training in the military. Has nothing to do with civil aviation. I suggest looking somewhere else.

I had a great experience with Laseter as my DPE for my private pilot certification. I would definitely recommend him. It was a thorough test and a great learning experience as well. Laseter was organized, professional, and clear throughout the process. Due to weather restrictions I had the oral exam and the flying exam on different days, but each experience was similar. He explained what he was doing, why he was doing it, and exactly when the test was beginning.

Did my private pilot check ride with Bob recently and for me he was very quiet and professionally conducted. He never did something to make me feel nervous; he just knows what is looking and expecting from the pilot that is been evaluated

Did my CFI-A checkride with him, and starting off it wasn't bad. Oral portion was a breeze and lasted about 5-6 hours. However, the flight was a totally different experience. This man will get loud, and seemingly for no apparent reason. You can tell that he as been flying for some number of years, and if you do something that isn't exactly how he would do it himself, he will let you know. For example, I entered a GPS waypoint into our GPS that wasn't exactly how he would enter it, and he proceeded to yell at me for about 10 minutes about how he "couldn't understand why I would take the time to enter each letter when it suggested it" (Usually fly Garmin G1000s, this system was a little different). I even just looked at the guy once and he proceeded to ream me out. I understand that a pilot should be able to work under stressful and intense situations, however, I don't feel it was necessary to create an extremely hostile environment between the both of us. I mean, is that usually the case when working with a professional flight crew...? Anyways, the only reason this guy isn't getting zero stars from myself is because he is very PTS oriented and realistically evaluates your piloting skills and abilities, regardless of how absurd some of his methods were. Still passed the practical exam, but if you aren't 100% confident in your abilities, especially for a ride as long and as in depth as a CFI-A practical, I'd steer clear of this guy at all costs.
